TaxMD™: TAX PLANNING SOFTWARE LLC ("TaxMD™," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you, as an individual subscriber, access or use our website, software platform, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
TaxMD™ is a subscription-based tax planning and financial optimization software platform for individuals. The Services use automation, rules engines, algorithmic logic, and AI-assisted features to generate calculations, projections, scenarios, reports, and other informational outputs. TaxMD™ does not provide legal representation, IRS representation, or other professional services beyond the software-enabled services described in our Terms.
Information We Collect
Account and Profile Information
Name, email address, phone number, mailing address, account credentials, subscription preferences, and account settings.
Payment and Billing Information
Billing name, billing address, subscription plan details, and transaction history. We use third-party payment processors and do not store full payment card numbers.
Financial, Tax, and Uploaded Information
Income, deductions, expenses, planning assumptions, uploaded documents, tax records, reports, and, where required by specific features, government-issued identifiers such as SSNs or ITINs. We do not collect government-issued identifiers for marketing purposes.
Device, Usage, and Technical Information
IP address (approximate location only), browser type and version, device type, operating system, pages viewed, session information, and performance/diagnostic data.

Contact details, content of your communications with us, support tickets, and feedback.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide and administer your account and subscription
- Process your tax-planning inputs and generate reports and projections
- Improve and develop platform features (using aggregated or de-identified data where possible)
- Detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and security threats
- Send service-related notices and, where permitted, marketing communications
- Comply with legal and contractual obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your tax return information for targeted advertising or share it with data brokers.
Data Security
We protect your information with:
- TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit
- AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest where applicable
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA), available and strongly recommended for your account
- Role-based access controls, logging, monitoring, and incident response procedures
- Regular vulnerability assessments and security patching
Breach Notification
If we determine that a breach has resulted in unauthorized access to your personal information, we will notify you no later than 72 hours after we make that determination, or within the timeframe required by applicable law, whichever is shorter.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and enabling MFA. Notify us immediately at Privacy@taxmd.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
How We Share Your Information
- Service providers working on our behalf (hosting, payment processing, analytics, security, support), contractually restricted to providing those services only
- Third-party integrations you enable, subject to those third parties' own terms
- Legal authorities where required by law, court order, or to protect against fraud or harm
- Transaction counterparties in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your Privacy Rights
General Rights
You may access, correct, or delete your account information through your account settings or by emailing Privacy@taxmd.com. You may opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
California Residents: Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
TaxMD™ does not sell your personal information. To submit a formal CCPA opt-out, email Privacy@taxmd.com with the subject line "CCPA Opt-Out Request" and your name and account email address. We will respond within 15 business days and will not discriminate against you for exercising this right.
Other State Residents
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with applicable privacy laws may request access, correction, deletion, and portability of their personal information, and may opt out of certain data uses. Contact Privacy@taxmd.com. If we deny your request, you may appeal by emailing Privacy@taxmd.com with the subject line "Privacy Rights Appeal."
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements, generally up to seven (7) years after account termination. After that period, we delete or anonymize your information.
AI and Automated Outputs
TaxMD™ may use automation, machine learning, and AI-assisted features to generate calculations, projections, and planning outputs. We do not use your individually identifiable tax return information to train publicly available AI models. Outputs may contain errors and are informational only, do not rely solely on them for tax filings or financial decisions.
Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact Privacy@taxmd.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
International Users
TaxMD™ is based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we will take appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the Effective Date and version number and update the Version History table. We will provide additional notice of material changes by in-app notification or email. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
